Exciting developments for national EV charging network with Jump Charging

As the year marches on so too does development of our national EV charging network with the announcement of our first public sites this week supported by EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority)!

Geraldine, Twizel and Omarama are each set to receive an initial two 150kW rapid chargers capable of charging four vehicles simultaneously, load managing to maximise grid efficiency, and providing universal payment options to facilitate ease of use by all.

Jump Charging’s mantra of FAST, VISIBLE and ACCESSIBLE is the cornerstone of these sites. Not only will they provide rapid vehicle charge times; with a combination of drive through and oversized parking they are designed to accommodate all vehicle types whether they be car, van, truck, campervan, coach or towing.

These locations align with our wider vision to electrify this key route between Christchurch and Queenstown, also linking with an upcoming hub in partnership with Agritech Group at Rakaia. Not only will these charging sites unlock zero emissions transport viability for those holidaymakers and businesses frequenting the route, they will also support local fleet transition and promote effective travel around their respective areas.

Last but not least, our new fast charger at Mandeville Village in North Canterbury is going live soon with a smaller format 75kW unit capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously. In a location chosen to support this semi-rural community through early engagement with local business owners, this site will also play host to our exciting technology developments ahead of rollout across the wider network.

This is only the beginning so stay tuned as we continue to support decarbonisation of New Zealand’s transport sector for the benefit of all.
